A UI Challenge is a creative exercise where designers and developers push their skills to the limit by crafting innovative and user-friendly interfaces within a set of constraints or themes.

Clutter-(lost and found app)

The goal was to design 5 screens for an intuitive and accessible lost and found app as part of a UI design challenge, focused on helping users report lost and found items within a community and quickly reunite with their belongings.

For this UI challenge, I modeled the layout after a shopping marketplace app, aiming to create an intuitive and engaging experience for users. I carefully selected an orange and purple color palette for the design, drawing on the meanings behind these colors to enhance the user experience.

Orange is often associated with urgency, attention, and energy, making it an ideal choice for an app focused on helping users quickly locate lost items. It draws users' attention and encourages immediate action, which is crucial when searching for something important.

Purple, on the other hand, symbolizes trust, creativity, and balance. In the context of a lost and found app, purple fosters a sense of reliability and security, reassuring users that their items are being handled with care.

This balanced color scheme enhances both the emotional and functional aspects of the app, helping users feel confident and motivated to use it during stressful situations.

The boxes within the logo symbolize a container for lost belongings or an organized space where items can be safely stored and retrieved. It suggests the idea of sorting, finding, and protecting personal possessions, making it clear that the app's purpose is to help users recover lost items. The simplicity of a box makes it universally recognizable, while its versatility allows for various interpretations—such as a treasure chest for lost valuables or a storage box for forgotten items—creating a sense of security and organization around the process of finding lost things.

Key Takeaways

This UI design challenge served as an excellent opportunity to apply both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in creating intuitive, accessible, and aesthetically pleasing user interfaces. The process reinforced the importance of empathy, and continuous improvement, and provided a solid foundation for future design projects.
